Screws to be fixed in materials such as brick? And if we have screws suitable for several materials?

Hello,

Where would a screw that is to be used on a brick fit? I've seen screws for wood / concrete, but in this particular case not for brick.

And if a certain plug allows a screw to be installed on different materials, where would this go? Because the different screw classes are divided by materials, what if there's a screw that can be used in several ones?

Thanks a lot,

Roberto

For example, the following screw (picture attached) is used to fix clamps. It's thread is not metric, but that doesn't mean that it's a wood screw, nor a chipboard screw, because it can be used with different materials with a plug.

A EC002910 - Concrete screw
is a screw that is mounted directly without a plug! Can be used for concrete but clearly then also for bricks. You just drill a hole and screw it in.

Hello Marc,

Thanks! Regarding my second question, I'm having difficulties understanding a certain concept: some screws, like the one in the image above, can be used in several materials (concrete, brick, etc.) WITH a plug. How would a screw that can used in different materials as it is used with a plug be classified?

One of my last questions regarding fasteners, I promise ?

Regards,

Roberto

Hi Roberto, very relevant question, but I think this is sort of a pitfall: You can use a wood screw to directly mount into wood. With a plug you can also use it to fix things into a hole you drill in a brick wall. But it is still a wood screw! So I don't think there are screws that can only be mounted with a plug, the plug enables you to use it in materials where it can not be directly mounted.
